A Message to the Dictator Khameni that should be read by all tyrants and islamists:
Sura 42;40 "Whoever forgives & makes reconciliation has a reward with Allah. Verily, He likes NOT Zalimun (oppressors)" #IranElection (from an unidentified tweeter)
This is an important recognition, though directed at one Tyrant, that Our Enemies are also the enemies of Islam. The Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and all islamist terrorists are Zalimun (Oppressors). This is an important verse that demonstrates why Muslims must oppose islamists.
But, a few key quotes, are particularly rewarding to me and War On Terror News because they provide the feedback to let us know that we've made a positive impact.
"Let's just get this done. I'll fund it if you guys deliver it. Where do I go and do it?" (Private Message concerning a specific effort by one of our contributors.)
The effort was not an official WOTN effort but one from one of our contributors which we were fortunate enough to be able to "retweet" with knowledge that it was from a noble endeavor. MsHope of Hope Radiocame up with a specific method of Support. She is to be acknowledged for a successful effort. We're glad that we could assist, but we weren't the force behind it. She did it!
"thanks for the link to Op Gratitude....got a few dozen DVD's i watched only once... now i know what to do with them" from @TOMinWPB in response to Operation Gratitude Article
This is what our Support Our Troops Category is all about! There are so many ways and so
many organizations that are doing great things. One of the hardest things is putting people in touch with the ways that are already there, things they can do within their means! There is a way, no matter if you have time, money, or neither. A response like that allows us to know that we were able to put at least one person in contact with at least one way that they can make a difference! It makes it all worth it! Thank you!
But also there is this part of a dialogue:
"You're okay with me picking this one, right?" (Private Message)
Yes, Absolutely! One of the policies of WOTN, something that MsMarti and I worked out early is that with so many great organizations, there is a need to have an index of them. While we had to identify a limited number to specifically support in the financial aspects of proceeds from our advertisers, we don't have a "pet" project that we will get upset about if you support a different one.
It's the mission that is important! It's not the personal endeavors of individual personalities. There are good organizations with similar or overlapping missions. I'm not an insider to any of them and am happy to be able to take a neutral position, hopefully, providing attention to the right organizations that are as noble in their roles as they've made us believe them to be. We do investigate the organizations as much as time allows before spreading the word about them, but we also encourage our readers to do so as well.
Our readers have provided quiet feedback on some of the organizations that may not be living up to their mission statements, because they did find credible information that we had not. We encourage those with personal experience to provide that feedback, because we do want to ensure that we're not sending anyone to the wrong effort, even if the negative information is not published. We're not going to undermine a positive mission even if a few people are involved for the wrong reasons.
But while we have not added any specific organization to the Wall of Shame, if credible evidence demonstrates sufficiently that an organization is misusing Troop Support, that will get reported. As this kind of thing has significant repercussions, it also has a high burden of proof, which may even require delay for the prosecution of criminals, which would take precedence over any "scoop" here.
Yes, this article brags a tad bit. But the point is not to say that we've done great things, but that others have. We have simply provided the platform, the message, and it is rewarding to know that it has taken effect. Our role in this is minor, so please, if you wish to express gratitude, do so to those that are actually doing the work, those that are helping get the work done, not this messenger that has simply relayed the information of who and how it is getting done.
Names have been withheld to protect some from danger and others withheld to protect the confidentiality of privacy.
The successful results we've bragged about here validate the efforts we've made to get this publication on the radar of an ever increasing readership. While we measure the effectiveness of WOTN by many means including "hits" to the site, hits alone only tell us that someone is taking a look. Hits alone do not tell us if the message is effective, but only that it's being looked at.
We're proud to say that we'll reach 200,000 hits in July 2009, only a few short months from our One Year Annivesary and our 100,000th hit in April. This too is a credit to our readers and their efforts to spread the word. It is a credit also to our many contributors who have volunteered so much time to providing the word. Thank you all, for what you've done quietly as well as what you've done loudly in Support of Our Troops, and through this publication as well as through others like it.
