Putting Our Money Where Our Mouth is

It is easy to tell others they should do this or that.  It is easy to suggest that big corporations and highly paid CEO's donate money to a pet project.  And War On Terror News highlights many very worthy causes.  We focus our financial donations on a few, not because the others are unworthy, but because we can only be effective dividing the money so many ways.

A penny a mile, or multiples of $26.20(100 pennies a mile) is our campaign from now through the Marine Corps Marathon.  Every single penny earned in commissions from August 1st through the Marathon is dedicated to the efforts of the White Family and their run.  Every fraction will be rounded up to the nearest penny per mile they run.  Every single thing you buy through this site will contribute to the commissions we earn and hence the donations the Semper Fi Fund receives for the hard work and dedication of the White Family.

One of the best parts of this is that some of our advertisers are Marine Owned Businesses

or Books.  How great it is that the book, Shadow of the Sword, by SSgt Jeremiah Workman, ships in September.  That means every commission earned from every pre-order since it was first added to our recommended list in December will be donated to the Semper Fi Fund. Destiny or Coincidence? A Marine told his story, which another Marine reviewed for our site, while yet another Marine runs to help other Marines.  Just one part of Semper Fidelis.  Then, toss in one Army NCO Veteran because someone needs to do the thinking.

And then, there is our newest advertiser, the Cover Bag, a Marine owned business protecting the covers of Marines with an innovative product. And then,there is another Marine who protects the butts of other Marines by running Marathons. Heads, butts, and covers are protected through the effort.  Every Marine (or other) that buys a great product gets 10% off by using the specials code "WOTN" while also knowing that they are funding the Semper Fi Fund for Wounded Marines and helping to build a Marine Owned business.

Although I spotlight those two for the specific awesomeness of the connections of Marines, if you buy through any advertiser on our site, the commissions are still dedicated to the same effort.  It doesn't matter if its flowers, appliances, books, lights, cameras, or action movies.

Don't want to buy anything but still want to donate to the efforts?  You can contribute cash as well.  Our campaign is a penny a mile.  Each runner (3 in the family) is running 26.2 miles in this particular marathon.  100 pennies a mile is $26.20 and we ask that you use some multiple of that if you donate. Any cash donations should be made directly to the donation site, not through us.  Any donation through our site is diminished by transaction fees that which can be avoided by donating directly to the donation site.

Some multiples of that penny a mile are:  $0.26, $2.62, $26.20, $52.40, $78.60, $104.80, $131.00, and $262.00.  War On Terror News would like to see a goal of $26,200 in total donations reached this year. It would only take 1000 people donating 100 pennies a mile ($26.20 per person).  Watch for Jon & Peg to start raising their goals as they see even more interest this year than last!
