In Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province a coalition force patrol killed several insurgents during a security operation, Friday.
The coalition force patrol was engaged by insurgents with small arms fire. The patrol positively identified the insurgents’ position and returned fire with assistance of an air weapon team killing several insurgents.
No civilians were harmed during the operation.
Also in Nahr-e Saraj district, a coalition patrol discovered a weapons cache Friday. The cache consisted of 81 detonators, 44 pressure plates, one spider charge, four radios, 13 remote control packs, 99 pounds (45 kilograms) of homemade explosives, one detonation cord and 30 homemade fuses.
All weapons were seized by security forces.

The Afghan-led security force tracked the leader to his compound following several intelligence tips. They searched his compound and conducted interviews with residents. After the interviews, the force detained the leader and a suspected associate.
