It is not too late to plan an outing for the Memorial Day Weekend. I found a few more places that “advertise” free admission with a military ID. Why do I say advertise? I truly believe that if you were to ask when buying tickets at many museums, water parks, theme parks, etc. you would find many give a discount if not free admission to members of our military with proper ID.

Free Admission for Veterans and Family Free admission includes a tour of the restored homes, gardens, Estates Museum and Edison’s Research Laboratory. Veterans must present a VA identification card or their DD-214 papers to receive free admission, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Edison & Ford Winter Estates, 2350 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. 334-7419.

America's Heroes Golf Program: Miami-Dade Parks Golf Division presents free golf after 10 a.m. Monday through May 30 at the courses listed below. Advance reservations required by calling the course. For more information on the program, call Steve Lucius at 305-829-8456, ext. 228:

It's free admission on Monday for active duty, activated, retired or drilling reservists, or National Guardsmen, plus one guest at the Florida Aquarium, and plus three dependents at the Lowry Park Zoo. The SS American Victory, the World War II-era cargo vessel in Tampa's Channelside district, offers military members free tour admission through Monday. It's open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays noon to 4.
