In turn, Spc. Michael Gallagher has turned the Jeep Liberty into a mobile memorial honoring his lost friends.
See the press release on the Chrysler website for a picture of the mural that is painted on the hood of the Jeep Liberty. The mural was Spc. Michael Gallagher’s idea. He designed the mural and Chrysler carried out the custom paint job for him creating a mobile memorial honoring his lost friends.
"In Memory Of The Fallen Heroes Of Alpha Company 2.23 Infantry. You Will Never Be Forgotten. R.I.P Joseph Landry III, Donald Valentine 11, Nicholas Olson, Luigi Marciante Jr., Jason Lemke."
Spc. Gallagher was the recipient of the 300,000th care package sent out from Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude has teemed up with Chrysler LLC and an all-new 2008 Jeep Liberty was the gift for whoever received that 300,000th care package. Inside the box was a set of car keys.
At the time he received the keys, Spc. Gallagher was serving over in Iraq. In a ceremony at Fort Lewis Military Reservation in Pierce County, Washington Army specialist Michael Gallagher received the custom painted 2008 Jeep Liberty from Chrysler and Operation Gratitude as part of the “Honor Those Who Serve” initiative. Spc. Gallagher took that a step further with his decision to have the custom paint job and mural added to the Jeep Liberty.
This speaks highly to me of the kind of man Spc. Gallagher is, to create a mobile memorial out of a gift he received. Following the presentation, 4,000 soldiers who recently served in Iraq took part in a special brigade redeployment ceremony.
