Ahdaminijihadist is a mere spokesman. The Ayatollah Khameni is the Supreme Islamic Revolutionary Ruler, and he has Obama's number:
"If you [Obama] are right that change has come, where is that change? What is the sign of that change? Make it clear for us what has changed." 3/21/2009 Ayatollah Khameni, Mashhad, Iran, to throngs of anti-American mobs shouting "death to America."
The Islamist apologists were quick to call that the opening round of negotiations, Iranian style, even if they have not read the Carter-Khomeni history. It was diplomactic failures, not military action where Carter proved inept at dealing wih the Iranians, sparking an emboldened anti-democracy "theocracy" in Iran, that led to the 1980's era of terrorism, sponsored by Iran, Libya, and Syria.
There is little doubt that the new Secretary of State is savy and smart. She is cunning and calculating, some might even say cold. But do they remember the embarrassments laid on Carter by the upstart Khomeni whom he helped install? Will the Bureacratic Administrator of the CIA accept the reports from seasoned professionals outlining the directorates of terrorism ran by Iran?
Perhaps, she will look back 29 years, to what happened on November 4th 1979, and in the aftermath by her predecessors in the Carter Administration, for lessons of what not to do. But this comes straight out of the old playbook that Khomeni used to embarass the United States:
"Khamenei set the bar impossibly high — demanding an overhaul of U.S. foreign policy, including giving up "unconditional support" for Israel and halting claims that Iran is seeking nuclear arms. Iran insists its nuclear program is only for peaceful energy purposes." Brian Murphy, AP, 3/22/2009
But the wierdest part of the punditry, are these self-described experts talking about how all of this could be playing to the "Iranian elections." It only takes a rudimentary search of the Iranian political process to find out that every candidate on the ballot was personally approved to become the official spokesman/scapegoat, i.e. "President of Iran." It takes little research at all to find out that the job security of the President of Iran is about equal to that of a Wal-Mart Security Guard accused of stealing.
There will be no change if a "reformer," is allowed to be elected. It simply means that the Ayatollah Khameni chose to tone down the rhetoric a little.
