Today, the "last Sunday in September," has been set aside as a day to honor our Gold Star Mothers! This year that day falls on September 27, 2009.
"The mothers of our Soldiers provide unwavering support to their sons and
daughters. When her child makes the ultimate sacrifice in service to the Nation, a
mother's quiet strength in the face of utmost loss inspires us all. These Gold Star Mothers
are uniquely amazing patriots, channeling their grief into the compassionate support of our

American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. Welcome to American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. We're an organization of mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country. If you've lost your child and would like the community of others in your situation, we invite you to join us. No one knows how you feel like another mother who has lost a child.
This page, Gold Star Mothers, on the Army site, has many resources listed on the right side bar, far more than I can list here.
I won't pretend to tell you I understand what goes through the mind of a mother as they watch their sons and daughters head out for a deployment. I can't relate to the sleepless nights, the constant worry, the tension when the phone rings late at night, the certain knowledge when a car pulls into their driveway unexpectedly.
I can only offer my thanks and gratitude to you for the outstanding children that you have raised!! I applaud your courage and am constantly amazed how you go on to support others after such a loss.
Such amazing women you are, which must be why you have such amazing sons and daughters!
Sincerely,
~MsMarti
Please remember to keep all of our military in your prayers, starting with their families/friends who support them from back home!
