How hard is that? Depending on the person, it could be anywhere from challenging to downright impossible depending on the person, their attitude and what they have done with themselves before stepping thru that recruiter's doorway.
Before you open that door, before you step over that threshold into a different world, perhaps you had better visit this site.
Hope and Inspiration for Future Marines, might be just what you are looking for or need to find. In fact, it should be a place where you spend a great deal of time absorbing the information found here.
Why would I send you here? Who better than another Marine to tell you what being in the Marines is all about! However, this site is not set up to recruit you into the Marines. It is not the typical website that I run across. I noticed we were getting some traffic from this site, so I went over to investigate it.
Hope and Inspiration for Future Marines is there to answer some questions you might be having. Questions such as "HOW DO I TELL MY PARENTS I WANT TO JOIN?" or "WHY DOES THE USMC NOT WANT GED HOLDERS WITHOUT COLLEGE CREDITS?" "WHEN SHOULD I SEE A RECRUITER?" and a highly discussed topic "CAN YOU GET TATTOOS BEFORE YOU ENLIST?"
Another area that caught my eye is Mind Games. This one in particular caught my attention......
-As a punishment I was made to hold my foot locker out in front of me for about 30 seconds. These lockers are very heavy and large. My favorite DI placed his [Smokey the Bear] cover underneath on the deck and said, "if I had any balls than I would not let anything happen to his Smokey the Bear."
I swear I have heard this a million times, and I am not even around many people who are thinking of joining the military......."I am going to join the Marines and become a sniper!" Really? Better check out Sniper. Don't forget to check out Humps! Still wondering about an MOS? Here are some truth's the recruiters might not be sharing.
Now I can sit here and write something about each of the 20 different categories found on Hope and Inspiration for Future Marines OR you can just head on over there and check them out for yourself.
You will see a link where you can send questions to the owner of this site. Use it! I know I used to be reluctant to contact site owners, don't be! They love the feedback!
As you go from page to page within Hope and Inspiration for Future Marines you can't help but feel the pride. There is a great deal of wisdom on to be found on those pages. The job of mentoring future Marines is obviously taken very seriously here.
My good friend is a Marine and as I was checking out the different pages, I would come across things I remember him talking to me about.
I think my favorite quote regarding the Marines is this one:
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem." Ronald Reagan
