Iraqi authorities say three Iraqi soldiers have been killed in a suicide car bomb attack in Al-Sharqat, 300 kilometers north of Baghdad.
Police said at least eight more soldiers were wounded in Thursday's attack, which targeted an Iraqi army base.
Also Thursday, reports said a roadside bomb went off in Fallujah, wounding five soldiers.

Tuesday, the top U.S. military officer, Admiral Mike Mullen, visited Iraq and said he was impressed by the role Iraqi security forces have taken since U.S. troops pulled out of the main cities last year.
He said violence is down significantly from one year ago and has reached its lowest level since 2003.
