Gunmen Wound Two Tourists Near India Mosque
Unidentified gunmen in New Delhi opened fire Sunday on a tourist bus near India’s largest mosque, wounding two Taiwanese.
Authorities say the incident took place outside the Jama Masjid mosque — a popular tourist destination in the Indian capital’s historic old city.
The injured tourists were hospitalized and their condition was not immediately clear.
An Islamic militant group, the Indian Mujahideen, claimed responsibility for the attack in an e-mail sent to several media outlets. The group also threatened more violence during the Commonwealth Games, to be held from October 3 to October 14 in New Delhi.
Athletes from 71 nations and territories linked to the former British Empire will participate in the games, which are held every four years.
