Baghlan police train, unify with development program
ISAF: KABUL, Afghanistan – The first class of the Directed Police District Development program is underway in Baghlan province. The program is designed to train the existing police force in Baghlan province with critical skills necessary for effective police activities.
The program trains both experienced and inexperienced members of the Afghan National Police over the course of six weeks, ensuring that these Afghan National Security Forces work with a common knowledge of Afghan rule of law.
The instructors for the program’s classes are a combination of members of the Afghan National Police, International Security Assistance Forces and Military Professional Resources International advisors.
“The training is very good,” said Mohammad Amin, who has been a police officer for only three weeks. “I am learning how to serve my country, how we have to behave with the people, about the three kinds of courts and medical training. I am 100 percent confident in my ability to be a police officer.”
Through Directed Police District Development the Afghan police members are not only gaining knowledge of their job, but pride in their country.
“When we wear our uniforms we have honor now,” said Amin. “I didn’t trust the police before, but now we have the training and I believe in the police. I believe in our ability as police to make a difference in this country.”
After this class of Directed Police District Development graduates in mid-December, they will serve throughout the Baghlan province.
