IED's, Suicide Bombers Strike Innocent Civilians Across Afghanistan

Afghan and NATO officials say four Afghan civilians were killed by homemade bombs in the eastern part of the country.

Officials say the four civilians were killed Monday after a bomb detonated in the Zurmat district of Paktia province.

Also Monday, officials say a suicide bomber on a motorbike wounded two civilians in Nangahar province. The bomber also died in the blast.

In fighting across the country, NATO says it killed two Taliban leaders and detained several other insurgents during a series of recent operations.

NATO says Afghan and coalition forces killed a TalIban leader and another insurgent during an overnight operation Sunday in Paktia province. Also in a statement Monday, the alliance said its forces killed a key Taliban leader in Farah province Saturday.

NATO says Afghan and coalition forceS detained several suspected insurgents during two operations in Khost and Paktia provinces on Sunday. Among those arrested was a key Taliban leader accused of coordinating roadside bomb attacks THAT targeted coalition convoys and aircraft.
