Afghan National Army holds religious cultural adviser conference
KABUL, Afghanistan – The 205th Afghanistan National Army corps hosted a two-day conference for religious and cultural affairs advisers Dec. 20-21 in Kandahar province.
The conference was chaired by Col. Muhammad Dost, chief of religious and cultural affairs, 205th Afghan National Army corps and was attended by the 205th Corps headquarters religious and cultural affairs personnel, the corps’ four subordinate brigades and the Commando Kandak, located on Hero Camp outside Kandahar City.
“Your efforts help counter the propaganda of the dushmen [enemy],” said Sims. “Your efforts to aid in the education of your soldiers and your communities are very critical.”
RC South is partnered with the 205th Afghan National Army corps and their focus is to support them in their mission to defeat the insurgents, Sims said to the assembled religious and cultural affairs and coalition members.
“We are looking to assist the 205th ANA corps’ current plan to provide their [religious and cultural advisers] with electronic loudspeakers so that the communities near the ANA posts can hear the call to prayer broadcast by the [religious and cultural affairs advisers] and show the communities that they are being protected by their fellow Muslim ANA soldiers,” said Sims.
"I ask that everyone assembled here depart with a renewed sense of the work that you do for the good of the Afghan people," said Dost.
