Radical Muslim Group Kills 5 Policemen in Nigeria
Officials say the Boko Haram group torched a police vehicle at a bus station near the town of Maiduguri Wednesday, killing three policemen and injuring several others.
In a separate attack in Maiduguri, suspected Boko Haram gunmen shot and killed at least two policemen at a checkpoint Tuesday. A civilian was also shot in a separate incident.
The killings have raised fears that Boko Haram has regrouped after fighting against the military killed more than 700 people in July 2009.
Boko Haram's name in the Hausa language means “Western education is a sin.” The group advocates the enactment of strict Islamic law across Nigeria.
