CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan – Another 96 police recruits graduated from the Joint Security Academy Southwest here, Dec. 26.
The recruits finished two months of rigorous training in which they learned the basic skills necessary to provide security for the people of Helmand and Nimroz provinces. Literacy, physical training and basic first aid are some of the other classes given to the students in addition to basic security skills.
Over time, instructors from the ministry of interior have been more and more involved in the training of the recruits. This push for more involvement is a sign of the increasing ability the Afghan government has in controlling and providing security forces in Afghanistan.
An increased amount of literacy training is also a new addition at the academy. Providing the students with basic education training will allow them to further assist the Afghan people by performing more accurate and detailed investigations at their respective duty stations.
As another class of recruits graduates from JSAS, security forces in Helmand and Nimroz provinces are increased not only in numbers but capability as the training is adapted to the needs of the military and executed by Afghan instructors.
“Put your skills and training in action to protect your people and your country,” said Gov. Mohammad Gulab Mangal, the Helmand Provincial Governor. “The people are waiting for you to protect them and provide them with a peaceful life.”
