Tuesday, December 28th, 2010 VOA News Pakistani intelligence officials say two suspected U.S. drone strikes have killed at least six people in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region.
The officials said the first attack Tuesday struck a house in the North Waziristan region near the Afghan border, killing at least four militants.
A short time later, officials say the second attack hit
The area is a stronghold for Pakistani Taliban and al-Qaida militants who carry out cross-border attacks against U.S.-led NATO forces in Afghanistan. The United States does not confirm drone attacks on Pakistan-based militants, but is the only nation operating the unmanned aircraft in the region.
Tuesday's strikes followed a similar attack a day earlier that officials said killed 18 insurgents.
The officials said Monday drones fired six missiles into North Waziristan's Mir Ali district, hitting two vehicles and a building.
Suspected U.S. drones have carried out about 100 strikes in Pakistani border regions this year, more than double last year's figure.
