Tuesday, December 14th, 2010 VOA News A U.S. military contractor held for more than two months in the United Arab Emirates for carrying weapons accessories has received a suspended jail term and a $4,000 fine.
A judge at a UAE security court on Monday told the contractor, Nicholas Moody, he is free to go but that he will serve a three-month jail term if arrested again. Moody said during the court proceeding that he will be back in the United States soon. He was previously released from prison on bail.

Moody was arrested on September 29 at Abu Dhabi airport after customs officials found weapons accessories in his luggage. He was on his way back to the United States at the time. He has said the accessories he was carrying were not dangerous.
Moody's mother, Lorina Moody, wrote in an email to American news organizations on Monday that the charges against her son had been dropped. She did not mention the fine or court-imposed conditions of his release.
Moody was working for a private security firm in Iraq when he was arrested. He earlier served as a U.S. soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan.
