Taliban falsely claimed to have killed foreign troops in Kunar Province yesterday!
While ISAF Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director Lt. Col. Patrick Hynes notes that:
“Afghan and coalition forces are destroying enemy safe havens, disrupting insurgent activity and making the area [Mang Tappeh village in Chahar Darah District, Kunduz province] safer for its residents,” said Lt. Col. Patrick Hynes, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. “Additionally, these operations pave the way for counterinsurgency efforts, which will eventually leave Afghans able to maintain their own security and governance without the fear of insurgent threats.”

Kandahar Province
In Kandahar an insurgent vehicle born explosive device blasted near the Afghan National Police headquarters resulting in two Afghan civilians wounded and six Afghan National Police service members injured. Coalition forces responded on scene to assist the wounded who were evacuated to Mirwais hospital.
Also.....
Several insurgents were killed by an air weapons team in Panjwa’i District, Kandahar province as they were attempting to emplace an IED.
Initial reports indicate no civilians were injured and no damage was reported in the above clearing operations.
Helmand Province
An Afghan National Security Force and ISAF patrol was engaged by insurgents with small arms fire in Sangin District. Combined forces returned fire, killing several insurgents and dispersing the others, who abandoned an IED components cache consisting of two pressure plates, one battery pack and 20 pounds (9 kilograms) of ammonium nitrate.

Kunar Province
In Kunar province an ISAF task force reported an imminent threat in Nari district and called for air support. After gaining positive identification an air weapons team on scene engaged, killing more than 25 insurgents.
According to a local media, the Taliban claim, “to have killed a large number of foreign troops” during the above clearing operations. No ISAF service member were killed in Afghanistan today.

An ISAF patrol, while clearing a suspect improvised explosive device, was engaged with small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades by numerous insurgents in Darah-ye Pech District. After gaining positive identification, ISAF forces returned fire, killing numerous insurgents, retrieved the IED and secured the area.
Kunduz Province
Afghan and coalition forces conducted a deliberate clearing operation aimed at disrupting the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan’s freedom of movement in northern Afghanistan.
The joint security force is continuing their efforts to disrupt enemy safe havens, where Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan leaders use villages throughout the area to conduct operational planning with Taliban fighters and facilitate their attacks. This operation focused on an area near Mang Tappeh village in Chahar Darah District, Kunduz province.
Afghan and coalition forces cleared 35 buildings suspected of insurgent activity in the area. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compounds peacefully before the joint security force cleared and secured the area. As a result of initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained 10 suspected insurgents during the operation.
Sporadic effective gunfire from insurgents throughout the operation resulted in coalition forces killing five insurgents. The security force also found and destroyed multiple automatic weapons, rocket-propelled grenades, hand grenades and a machine gun at the scene. They also found improvised explosive device material including two dozen blasting caps.
