Somali Pirates Arrive in South Korea
The South Korean coast guard said the five arrived in the southeastern city of Busan Sunday and were immediately put in a detention center for questioning. The five face possible life in prison. The men were captured when South Korean commandos raided the Samho Jewelry earlier this month, a week after pirates seized the ship and its 21 crew members.
Eight of the pirates were killed and the captain was shot in the stomach. He remains in critical condition. After surgery in Dubai, the captain returned to South Korea Saturday for more treatment. None of the other crew members were harmed. They and their ship are headed for Oman.
