Vandals Hit Cairo Museum
Zahi Hawaas said Saturday the vandals did not steal anything and the famed museum is now being guarded by military commandos.
The Egyptian Museum is home to the world's biggest collection of Pharaonic antiquities, including the gold mask of King Tutankhamun that draws millions of tourists a year. Hawaas said the King Tutankhamun exhibit has not been damaged and is safe.
The museum is near some of the most intense anti-government protests sweeping the capital. It is next door to the ruling NDP party headquarters that was set on fire Friday.
