"He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! For he today, that sheds his blood with me, shall always be my brother.” (W.Shakespeare) Rest in peace my Brothers, you have not been forgotten.
A military statement says the assailant was killed during the attack, which took place during a training event conducted by U.S. forces. Another U.S. soldier was also wounded.
An Iraqi military source said the attack appeared to have been planned.
The U.S. military says another American soldier was killed during operations in central Iraq, without providing details.
The three deaths made Saturday one of the deadliest days for American soldiers in Iraq in recent months.
The violence also underscores the risks still facing the U.S. soldiers who are left in Iraq, after combat operations officially ended in August last year. U.S. troops are now primarily advising and training Iraqi forces.
