Sunday, January 9th, 2011 VOA News Saudi Arabia has released a list of 47 wanted al-Qaida suspects who are living abroad.
The Saudi Interior Ministry said Sunday it has passed the list of 47 Saudi nationals to Interpol, the international police. The ministry did not disclose the suspects whereabouts, only that they are living outside of the country.
Saudi Arabia routinely releases lists of wanted al-Qaida suspects. Saudi militants linked to al-Qaida launched a wave of attacks in the country during the middle of the past decade before coming under a severe government crackdown.
The Saudi and Yemeni al-Qaida branches recently merged to form al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula. The group is based in Yemen but has carried out several cross-border attacks in Saudi Arabia.
