U.S. Official In Pakistan Shooting Incident
According to Pakistani police officials, a third Pakistani was killed in the incident when he was struck by a U.S. consulate vehicle that had rushed to the aid of the U.S. diplomat.
Police say the U.S. diplomat was at a traffic signal when two men on a motorcycle fired shots at his vehicle. According to the police the U.S. diplomat returned fire and alerted a separate U.S. security team traveling behind him. Both attackers later died in a hospital. The third individual who was struck by a consular vehicle also died after being taken to a hospital.
Lahore police say the U.S. diplomat was taken to a police facility and an investigation is under way.
There was no immediate comment from the U.S. embassy in Pakistan.
