One child killed, two wounded during firefight in Baghlan

BAGHLAN, Afghanistan – A 10-year-old boy was killed and two females injured when Afghan National Army Commandos, supported by U.S. Special Forces, were engaged by insurgents in Larkhabi village, Baghlan province, Feb. 18.
Upon infiltration of the village, the Afghan and coalition forces came under heavy enemy fire from a compound to the southeast.
The combined-force continued to take enemy fire from additional compounds within the village. An additional suicide bomber was killed by the Commandos when he charged their location.
Both females were medically evacuated to Konduz Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
The cause of the injuries is currently under investigation by Afghan and coalition authorities.
