Six Afghan Civilians Killed by Mine Blast
A statement from NATO says the six were killed when the rickshaw they were traveling in struck a roadside bomb in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province.
A report released this week from the Kabul-based Afghanistan Rights Monitor group said 2010 was the deadliest year for Afghan civilians since the war began.
The group said at least 2,421 civilians were killed and more than 3,270 wounded last year. The report says insurgents were responsible for 63 percent [more than 1500 civilian murders] of the total civilian deaths, while international forces were blamed for about one-fifth of the deaths. The rest were attributed mostly to Afghan forces.
