9 February 2011 VOA News The U.S. Justice Department says a 40-year-old man from North Carolina has pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges.
In a statement Wednesday, the department says Daniel Patrick Boyd, also known as Saifullah, filed a guilty plea to charges of providing material support to terrorists and conspiracy to murder, kidnap, maim and injure people in foreign countries.
Boyd was charged in 2009, along with seven others, in a federal indictment and arrested a week later.
According the most recent indictment against him,
From 2006 to 2009, the indictment says Boyd conspired with others to provide material support and resources to terrorists, and plotted kidnappings, murders and injuries.
Boyd is expected to be sentenced in May. He could receive life in prison for certain charges, including conspiracy to murder, and an additional 15 years for others.
U.S. Attorney George Holding says the cases proves terrorists are no longer only from foreign countries, but are U.S. citizens within our borders.
