23 march 2011 VOA News Masked gunmen have kidnapped seven European tourists who were on a biking trip in Lebanon.
The cyclists, reported to be Estonian, were nabbed on Wednesday near the city of Zahle, in the eastern Bekaa Valley, after they crossed into Lebanon from Syria. Security officials say the unknown assailants bundled the cyclists into two vans.
Witnesses say the tourists' bicycles and backpacks were found abandoned nearby.
Authorities say there is no word on who kidnapped the cyclists or whether the incident is politically motivated.
