War in Afghanistan News reports provided by ISAF Joint Command. Operations are reported in the following provinces: Kandahar, Kunar, Helmand, Parwan, Kapisa and Paktiya.
An air strike was utilized to take out insurgents digging to emplace a mortar tube in Kunar Province. Kandahar was the source of multiple IED components, grenades, fuses and RPG’s in just one of multiple caches. A few pounds (200-300) of hashish were discovered.
In Helmand 35 pressure plates in two separate districts were found along with penicillin pills and IED componants.
In addition to recovering drugs and weapons, multiple insurgents have been killed and or captured throughout various provinces.

Kandahar Province
Afghan and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache while conducting a clearing operation in Zharay district, Kandahar province today. The cache consisted of one anti-personnel mine, nine rocket propelled grenades, five RPG boosters, 17 hand grenades, 13 grenades fuses, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine, two jugs filled with 7.62mm rounds and several improvised explosive device components.

In a separate clearing operation in Zharay district, Kandahar province combined Afghan and coalition security forces found a drugs cache today. The cache consisted of 25 bags of hashish with an approximate total weight of 200-300 pounds (91-136 kilograms).

In Arghandab district, Kandahar province combined Afghan and coalition forces conducting a dismounted patrol discovered a weapons cache today. The cache consisted of 11 mortar rounds, two jugs filled with approximately 500 7.62mm rounds.
Kunar Province
Coalition forces killed five insurgents after they observed an imminent threat from armed individuals at a historic insurgent fighting position in Ghazi Abad district, Kunar province.
Coalition forces on the ground monitored the five insurgents for several hours to ensure positive identification and intent of the individuals prior to requesting the close air support to engage. The insurgents killed were in possession of automatic weapons and were digging to emplace a mortar tube.
All rounds were reported safe and on target. There were no reports of injuries or damages to civilians in the area.

Helmand Province
Afghan and International Security Assistance Forces conducting a clearing operation killed several insurgents and detained numerous others in Sangin district, Helmand province yesterday.
The combined security forces conducted a search and clearing operation in a targeted compound in the upper Sangin Valley area. The combined forces made several call outs before entering and searching several buildings in the compound. The combined security forces were engaged with small arms fire and hand grenades. The combined forces engaged the threat killing several insurgents and detaining several others.
Operational reports indicated multiple small arms weapons and ammunition were recovered by the combined security forces. There were no civilian casualties as result of this operation.

In Sangin district, Helmand province coalition security forces conducting a clearing operation discovered 25 pressure plates used for the detonation of improvised explosive devices today.

In Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province a coalition forces patrol discovered a weapons cache today. The cache consisted of two victim operated improvised explosive devices, 10 pressure plate improvised explosive devices, 3 detonators, six red penicillin pills and several IED components.

In Marjah district, Helmand province a combined Afghan and coalition forces dismounted patrol discovered a weapons cache consisting of 10 60mm mortar rounds today.

Parwan Province
Coalition forces conducting a patrol in Bagram district, Parwan province discovered a weapons cache today. The cache consisted of one 20mm cartridge, one 60mm mortar round, two Russian AO 2.5 fragmentation bomb sub-munition, five Russian AO 2.5 fragmentation bomb halves, two grenades, one 55PKM warhead, six 58PM warheads and one 82mm mortar.
Kapisa Province
In Tagab district, Kapisa province a coalition forces patrol discovered a weapons cache today. The cache consisted of 200 7.62mm rounds, one combat jacket, two pistols, two hand grenades, one camera and one improvised explosive device instruction manual.
Paktiya Province
In Zurmat district, Paktiya province, combined Afghan and coalition security forces discovered an ammunition cache consisting of 600 DISHKA rounds today.
All weapons, drugs and IED components have been or will be destroy by the security forces.
