Kandahar Province
Afghan National Security Forces and International Security Assistance Forces found a large cache while conducting a two day clearing operation in Mahalajat area, Kandahar city, March 1.
The cache consisted of one Toyota Corolla vehicle borne explosive device, 220 pounds (100 kilograms) of explosives, 15 DShK and two ZPU machine guns, five rocket propelled grenade launchers, 22 spare barrels for the DShKs, 16 DShK ammo belts, 1000 DShK and ZPU rounds and 20 magazines for assorted weapons.
All weapons have been or will be destroyed by security forces.

Kunar Province
International Security Assistance Force is looking into allegations of civilian casualties following an insurgent attack on a forward operating base in Darah-Ye Pech district, Kunar province, Mar. 1.
After receiving two rocket attacks that slightly wounded one local contractor at Forward Operating Base Blessing, coalition forces returned fire at the point of origin with indirect and aerial fire.
Following the engagement, ISAF was made aware of civilian casualty claims through the media. As a result ISAF is investigating the operation and the civilian casualty claims.
“We take civilian casualty allegations very seriously. We are here to protect the people of Afghanistan,” said Col. Charles Toplikar, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. “We’ll investigate these allegations quickly and thoroughly with a joint and combined incident assessment team including members from the Ministries of Defence and Interior.”
