A bus fell into the water off a Nile River ferry on Friday, killing at least 17.
Egyptian officials say the accident happened in the southern province of Bani Suief.
Mourners attending a funeral filled a minibus with 32 passengers. An Egyptian official told the Associated Press that the bus's emergency brake was not on and it slid off the ferry.
Ferry and transport accidents are common in Egypt, where maintenance is poor. Nearly one year ago, five people drowned when their ferry capsized in the Nile near Cairo.
A ferry accident in 2006 left more than 1,000 people dead.
