In Murghab district, Badghis province, several Taliban insurgents were helped to a meeting with their 72 or so virgins, courtesy of a combined Afghan and coalition security force. The good guys also rounded up several more during clearing operations.

The force was in the process of clearing several suspected insurgent locations, when they came into contact with heavily-armed insurgents. The insurgents engaged the force with large-caliber machine guns and AK-47 rifles. The force returned fired, killing several insurgents.
During a follow-on assessment, it was discovered that one of the individuals involved and killed during the operation was an Afghan female. She was located amongst the firing insurgents. It is assessed she was killed during the exchange of gunfire between the heavily-armed insurgents and the security forces. The force also discovered multiple large caliber machine guns, AK-47 rifles, homemade bomb initiating devices and chest racks.
The force detained several suspected insurgents for further questioning.

Coalition forces detained two suspected insurgents when a weapons cache of improvised explosive device making materials was discovered in Marjeh district, Helmand province, today.
The cache consisted of one pressure plate, 10 feet (three meters) of electrical wire, eight circuit boards, gun powder, five cell phones, six batteries, several spools of copper wire and several improvised explosive device components.
The patrol also found 13 pounds (six kilograms) of opium tar.
The two suspected insurgents were detained for questioning and the materials were destroyed by security forces.
In Tarin Kot, Uruzgan province a coalition patrol discovered a weapons cache, today, consisting of 400 7.62 mm rounds, 10 charge bags, nine recoilless rifle rounds and three bags of detonation cord.
In Zharay district, Kandahar province a combined Afghan and coalition force patrol today, detained a suspected insurgent who was transporting 220 pounds (100 kilograms) of hash on a motorcycle. The hash was destroyed at the site.
In the same district and province, Afghan and coalition forces discovered five IEDs, 10 pressure plates, one bag of shrapnel, one jug filled with homemade explosives, detonation cord and wire. The IEDs and materials were destroyed on site.
Also in Kandahar province, in Arghandab district, Afghan and coalition forces discovered 20 anti-personnel mines. The mines were all neutralized.
