A combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Haqqani leader and two of his associates during a security operation in Sabari district, Khost province Thursday.
The combined security force targeted a compound in the district to search for the leader, based on multiple intelligence reports. The force secured and cleared the area with the compliance of all local residents.
Continuing the search, the force interviewed local residents about the whereabouts of the Haqqani leaders. Based on the information the local residents provided, the force was able to identify and detain the Haqqani leader. Two suspected insurgents were also detained for further questioning.

In Baghlan-e Jadid district, Baghlan province, an Afghan and coalition security force detained four suspected insurgents while searching for a Taliban leader during a security operation Thursday.
The Taliban leader is active along the Qandahari belt of Baghlan province and commands approximately 60 fighters in the district.
The force targeted compounds in the district after multiple intelligence reports indicated insurgent activity in the area. The force secured and cleared both compounds after having all occupants exit the buildings. The clearance commenced and concluded without shots fired.
At both locations, the force conducted interviews with local residents on the whereabouts of the leader. Based on the interviews, the force detained four individuals with suspected ties to Taliban insurgency for further questioning.
South
In Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province Afghan and coalition forces captured a Taliban leader during a security operation Thursday.
The leader prepared and conducted attacks against Afghan National Army and coalition forces.
A combined security force went to a compound in Panjway district after intelligence discovered insurgent activity in the area. After isolating the area, the force called for all occupants to exit the premises, allowing them to secure the safety of all women and children.
After initial questioning, the force identified and detained the Taliban leader. During the search, the force discovered and safely destroyed ten pounds of black tar heroin.
East
In Bak district, Khost province, Afghan and coalition forces captured a Haqqani Network leader during a security operation Thursday.
The leader was responsible for the coordinating direct attacks targeting Afghan National Army and coalition forces.
After weeks of intelligence gathering the force targeted the leader’s suspected compound in the district. The force began their search by isolating the compound and calling for all occupants to exit the buildings. After ensuring the safety of all civilians, the force searched the area and conducted interviews.
Initial questioning at the scene led the security force to positively identify and detain the insurgent leader.
In Sabari district, Khost province Afghan and coalition forces captured a Haqqani leader and two of his associates during a security operation Thursday.
The Haqqani leader was responsible for coordinating the transfer of explosives.
A combined security force targeted a compound in the district to search for the leader, based on multiple intelligence reports. The force secured and cleared the area with the compliance of all local residents.
Continuing the search, the force interviewed local residents about the whereabouts of the Haqqani leader. Based on the information the local residents provided, the force was able to identify and detain the Haqqani leader. Two suspected insurgents were also detained for further questioning.
There were no shots fired and no civilians harmed during these operations.
