17 May 2011 VOA News The Irish military says it has defused a bomb found in the luggage compartment of a bus in Ireland, hours before Britain's Queen Elizabeth was scheduled to arrive for a landmark visit.
Officials say the bomb was found late Monday in a bus in the town of Maynooth, about 25 kilometers from Dublin. The bomb was later detonated by the army in a controlled explosion.
Shortly after, a second suspicious device was found
Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Phillip arrive in Dublin Tuesday for the start of their four-day visit to the country.
It is the first visit by a British monarch since Ireland declared its independence in 1916.
