While finding and securing rockets, grenades, mortars, rifles, ammo and RPG's, coalition forces also captured Haqqani and Taliban insurgent leaders in other operations. 220lbs of drugs also have been taken out of circulation.

In other International Security Assistance Force Joint (ISAF) Command Operational News throughout Afghanistan:
Herat Province
A coalition force patrol discovered a weapons cache in Shindand district, Herat province, during a security operation, today.
The cache consisted of two 82 mm recoilless rifles, three 82 mm rocket boosters, nine 82 mm mortar rounds, three rocket-propelled grenades, two 40 mm grenades, 99 mortar propelling charges and one breaking charge.
All the weapons were seized by security forces.
Bamyan Province
In Bamyan province, residents from Bamyan, Kahmard and Shaybar districts have turned in a large weapons cache to coalition forces recently.
The cache total consisted of 43 82 mm mortar rounds, 39 mortar fuses, nine 85 mm rockets, 13 82 mm mortar rounds, five 73 mm rockets, 11 81 mm mortar rounds, 36 107 mm type 65 recoilless rifle rounds, 25 82 mm type 65 recoilless rifle rounds, five 75 mm Type 52 recoilless rifle rounds, two 105 mm rockets, three anti-personnel mines and 26 boxes of small arms ammunition.
All weapons and explosives have been or will be destroyed by the security forces.
Ghazni Province
A coalition force patrol discovered a drug cache in Gelan district, Ghazni province today consisting of 220 pounds (100 kilograms) of drugs.
All the drugs were seized by a coalition patrol.
Balkh Province
A combined Afghan and coalition security force killed several insurgents during an overnight security operation in Sholgarah district, Balkh province, yesterday.
The Afghan-led force was conducting a search for a senior Taliban leader when they were attacked by multiple armed insurgents upon arriving at the target. The force responded to enemy fire, killing several insurgents. Later, they were engaged by more insurgents in another fire fight. Several more insurgents were killed as a result of the engagement.
After the engagement, the force confiscated several grenades, machine guns, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher with several warheads, bomb components, AK-47 rifles and multiple rounds of loose ammunition from the deceased insurgents.
The target of the operation was an insurgent leader who is the Taliban appointed governing official for attacks in Chimtal district in Balkh. He is responsible for directing roadside bomb attacks in the district. Initial reports indicate no civilians were hurt during the operation.

Faryab Province
An Afghan and coalition force patrol conducting a security operation in Pashtun Kot district, Faryab province, detained one suspected insurgent and discovered a weapons cache yesterday. The cache consisted of one machine gun, 10 RPGs, 100 14.5 mm rounds one rifle and one box filled with 7.62 mm rounds.
Zabul Province
In Tarnek wa Jaldak district, Zabul province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader yesterday. The leader commanded a roadside bomb cell and was directly responsible for several attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
He and an associate were discovered at a compound in the district during the night search. With no women or children present, the Afghan-led force identified the two men and apprehended them. While searching the area, the security force also discovered several explosive device making materials.
Helmand Province
In Nad’ Ali district, Helmand province, a coalition force patrol discovered a weapons cache today.
The cache consisted of 770 7.62 mm rounds, three rocket-propelled grenades, six grenades, three radios, 21 rifle magazines and seven RPG boosters.
All the weapons were seized by security forces.

A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent during an overnight security operation in Sangin district, yesterday. The leader is directly responsible for planning attacks and coordinating surveillance operations targeting Afghan government officials.
Afghan members of the force interviewed residents and identified one individual with suspected ties to the leader at a compound in the district. He was detained by the force for further questioning.

Khost Province
A combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Haqqani network leader in Khost district, Khost province, yesterday. The leader was responsible for attacks against Afghan security forces and operated as a roadside bomb and weapons facilitator.
The Afghan-led force located him after several days of tracking his position based on intelligence reports. Afghan members of the force initiated the search and conducted interviews with residents. After questioning, the security force was able to identify the leader and detain him.
Paktika Province
In Mata Khan district, Paktika province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents while searching for a Haqqani network leader yesterday. The leader conducts, coordinates and directs roadside bomb and indirect fire attacks against Afghan and coalition forces operations within the district.
After receiving multiple intelligence tips, the security force searched a compound associated with the leader. While searching the area, they identified and detained several individuals with suspected ties to the leader.
Wardak Province
A combined Afghan and coalition force detained one suspected insurgent during a security operation In Sayyidabad district, Wardak province, yesterday. The target of the security operation was a Taliban leader who conducts attacks along Highway 1 targeting Afghan and coalition forces.
The security force apprehended the individual after searching a compound associated with the leader. He will be held for additional questioning.
