“After recently celebrating its 7th anniversary, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (http://semperfifund.org/) is proud to announce that it has surpassed the $50 million mark in the financial assistance it has given to injured and critically ill servicemembers and their families. This historic achievement in the life of the Semper Fi Fund represents over 31,000 grants issued to more than 6,000 Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen and their families. Our assistance helps with immediate financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery, as well as perpetuating needs such as home modifications, customized transportation and specialized equipment.”
The Semper Fi Fund (SFF) (http://www.semperfifund.org) is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and quality of life solutions for Marines and Sailors, as well as members of the Army, Air Force and Coast Guard who serve in support of Marine forces, when they become injured in post 9-11 combat or training operations, or they face life threatening illness or injury
I think the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is a pretty remarkable organization. Why? Take a look at this pie chart. See for yourself where the 50 Million dollars went.
6 years ago, I became acquainted with a Marine. 4 years ago he finally decided to tell me about his injury and the fact that he was going to run in the Marine Corps Marathon (2008). I believe he only mentioned his injury as a means to an end.....the fundraiser. Late spring of 2008 this same Marine began fundraising for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. Ever since then, War On Terror News has backed his efforts.
Since then, I have heard from him about a few of his men who were injured, who have been helped by the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (IMSFF). Each year my admiration for this Marine, for ALL of our military and for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund has continued to grow stronger!
Yes, you can go donate to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund at their website OR you can help show this Marine that we are helping to support his efforts by donating directly through his fundraising page found here. As a runner, and a member of a team, there is a small obligation each is required to fundraise. They have not yet met that goal. Generally not mincing words, his team name FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T follows along those lines. He only asks that you donate what you can.
War On Terror News has made their donation as have others. Check out the links in this article and then give what you can for "those who can't!"
