War in Afghanistan News reports provided by ISAF Joint Command. Operations are reported in the following provinces: Ghazni, Kunduz and Khost.
In Ghazni district, Ghazni province, an Afghan-led combined security force conducted a security operation resulting in one Taliban facilitator killed and two suspected insurgents detained, yesterday.
The security force located the facilitator while conducting a search in the district. Armed with an AK-47 rifle, the facilitator attempted to flee the area and fired at the security team. The team returned fire, killing him. The facilitator was responsible for procuring and dispersing weapons for insurgent groups.
The security force also detained two of the facilitator’s associates for further questioning.

Kunduz Province
Commandos of 3rd Company, 5th Kandak, and coalition Special Operations Forces conducted an operation which resulted in two suspected insurgents being detained in Archi district, Kunduz province, July 5.
The intent of the operation was to disrupt potential suicide attacks on combined Afghan and U.S. forces and Kunduz provincial government officials, along with degrading explosives facilitation cells.
The Commandos cleared and searched a village in response to local reports of improvised explosive devices and suicide bomb construction. During the search, two males fitting the description of wanted insurgents were detained pending positive identification.
Additionally, the Commandos confiscated one laptop, two thumb drives, six radio handsets and multiple LED lights used as improvised blasting caps.
No civilian injuries or property damage were reported during the operation.
Khost Province
An Afghan-led combined security force detained two Haqqani leaders and several suspected insurgents during an overnight search in Sabari district, Khost province, yesterday.
The first Haqqani leader was responsible for coordinating indirect fire, roadside bomb, and direct fire attacks against the Afghan National Army. He also financed and supplied subordinate fighters.
The second leader coordinated large scale and indirect fire attacks against the Afghan National Army. He also supplied subordinate fighters with weapons and supplies.
The security force located the first leader using intelligence reports indicating his whereabouts. After arriving in Sabari district and interviewing local residents, the security force was led to the second leader’s location. Both men and several associates were detained for further questioning.

While searching the area, the security force also discovered several grenades, AK-47 rifles, chest racks and armor-piercing ammunition.
