The Taliban leader planned and executed roadside bomb attacks against Afghan forces. A follow-on assessment of the area was conducted by security forces after the strike and it was determined that no civilians were harmed during the strike.
In Nawah-ye Barakzai district, Helmand province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator and one suspected insurgent during a security operation. The leader facilitated roadside bomb, pressure plate, and victim operated bomb attacks throughout the region.
A combined Afghan and coalition security force seized 19,842 pounds (9,000 kilograms) of hashish and 1,852 pounds (840 kgs) of ammonium nitrate aluminium during an operation in Zharay district, Kandahar province, Saturday. Security forces safely destroyed the drugs and recovered the explosives for safe disposal at a later date.
East: A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained a Taliban leader, responsible for several roadside bomb attacks in the region, and multiple suspected insurgents, as well as, confiscating weapons during an operation in the Khugyani district, Nangarhar province, Friday. During the search, the force engaged what appeared to be an armed individual, resulting in the injury of a local national female. The female was wounded in the leg. She was cared for and transported, along with an escort, to a medical treatment facility by the coalition force.

In Andar district, Ghazni province, Friday, a combined Afghan and coalition patrol discovered an explosives cache during a security operation. The operation seized 1,213 pounds (550 kgs) of ammonium nitrate. The explosives were safely destroyed on site.
KABUL, Afghanistan (September 17, 2011) - The International Security Assistance Force joins President Karzai in condemning the IED attack in Qhormach District of the Faryab province that killed nine and wounded one. Five children were among the dead. Initial reports indicate a single IED was detonated.
