Coalition Forces detained one suspicious individual after he was found video recording their convoy in Maidan Shahr District, Wardak Province. The detainee was safely transported to a nearby base for questioning.

--In Dand district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search of a Taliban leader today. The leader is thought to be responsible for Wednesday’s suicide-bomb attack against an Afghan police official in Kandahar province. Two suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.
--Afghan National Police killed three insurgents during an arms battle in Dilah Wa Khosha Disctrict, Paktika Province. After the engagement, an injured insurgent was detained and brought to a local facility for medical attention.
--Afghan National Security Forces and Coalition Forces arrested 10 suspected insurgents during a tactical callout in Shinwar District, Nangarhar Province. The detainees were safely brought to a local compound for questioning.
--Afghan Uniform Police officers arrested two individuals who were in possession of AK-47s and ammunition in Behsud District, Nangarhar Province. The detainees were safely transported to a nearby facility for confirmation.
--Coalition Forces had two unmanned aerial vehicles crash due to engine failure - one in Khowst District, Khowst Province and one in Pul-e Alam District, Logar Province. Both UAVs have been recovered.
--An Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search for a Taliban leader in Marah Warah district, Kunar province, Thursday. The targeted leader, Rostum, directed a group of insurgent fighters who planned and led attacks against Afghan forces throughout Kunar province. He was responsible for leading an attack against a school-opening ceremony in the Daridam village in June 2011.
During the operation, the security force assessed the situation, ensured no civilians were in the area and called for a precision airstrike which killed Rostum and his associate.
