KABUL, Afghanistan – A combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered a drugs cache during a routine patrol in Zharay district, Kandahar province, today.
The cache consisted of approximately 2,400 pounds (1,090 kilograms) of hashish.
Security force destroyed the drugs on site without incident.

A combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered a weapons cache during a routine patrol in Shinkai district, Zabul province, today. The cache consisted of 2,500 5.56 mm rounds, 50 .50 caliber rounds, three mortar tubes and two mortar base plates. All of the items were destroyed on site without incident.
A coalition security force struck an improvised explosive device during a patrol in Zharay district, Kandahar province, today. There were no ISAF casualties reported. During subsequent actions the security force discovered seven other IEDs planted in the immediate vicinity. Each device contained approximately 55 pounds (25 kilograms) of explosive material. Security forces destroyed the IEDs without further incident.
