BAGRAM, Afghanistan (May 22, 2012) - A female child was killed by an insurgent placed improvised explosive device today in Watapur, Kunar.
Afghan National Security Forces responded, securing the area.
"We strongly condemn today's explosion that resulted in killing of a young innocent girl. This is another inhuman and un-Islamic act of people of Afghanistan whose actions harm ordinary people. We request from every Afghan citizen in Kunar to help and report any suspicious activities to their local authorities and not to let enemies of the people of Afghanistan deter their normal lives," said Wasifullah Wasifi, Kunar Provincial Governor's spokesman.
The ANSF are conducting an investigation.
