Afghan and coalition forces killed nine insurgents, detained five suspects and discovered a weapons cache during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the 24 hours of May 4.
Wardak province Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces killed six insurgents and discovered a weapons cache in Sayyidabad district. The cache contained small arms and ammunition, grenades and multiple mortar rounds being used for improvised explosive devices.
Kapisa province
A coalition airstrike killed three insurgents in Alah Say district after positively identifying the individuals setting up mortar fire.
Ghazni province
Afghan Uniform Police detained three suspects in Deh Yak district after positively identifying one as a known insurgent and the two others testing positive to recently making improvised explosive devices.
Khowst province
AUP and ANA soldiers detained two suspects with 250 kilograms of illegal fertilizer that tested positive for nitrates in Khowst district. The detainees were transported under AUP custody to a base for questioning.
