An Afghan and coalition security force detained a Haqqani leader during an operation in Sabari district, Khost province, today. The leader planned and coordinated yesterday’s attack on Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khost. During the operation, the security force also detained several additional insurgents and seized an AK-47 and multiple magazines of ammunition.

The leader controls a large number of insurgents and conducts roadside bombings and other attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces in Kabul City and Muhammad Aghah district. During the operation, insurgents attacked the Afghan and coalition security force. The security force returned fire killing two insurgents.
In Wali Muhammad Shahid Khugyani district, Ghazni province, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to detain a Taliban leader today. The leader plans and conducts attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces throughout the district. He also supplies local insurgents with weapons, ammunition and equipment. During the operation, the security force detained two suspected insurgents. A combined Afghan and coalition security force patrol discovered a weapons cache in Tarin Kot district, Uruzgan province, yesterday. The cache consisted of three shoulder fired surface-to-air missiles, three anti-tank mines, 423 rocket-propelled grenades, 118,600 7.62 mm rounds, 30 rifles and other military ordnance were recovered. Security forces destroyed the cache on site without incident.
West
Afghan and coalition security forces conducted an operation to detain a Taliban leader in Murghab district, Badghis province, today. The leader is responsible for planning and conducting attacks and roadside bombings against Afghan security forces and coalition troops throughout Murghab district. He also provides weapons, ammunition and explosives to the insurgents under his control. During the operation, insurgents attacked the Afghan and coalition security force. The security force returned fire killing multiple insurgents. A follow-on assessment of the area confirmed the operation did not damage any civilian property and no civilians had been injured. The security force recovered multiple AK-47s, grenades and magazines with ammunition during this operation.
Acting on a tip in Anar Darah district, Farah province, Afghan and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache Thursday. The security forces recovered 32 mortar bombs, 32 anti-personnel mines and a quantity of ammunition. All materials were destroyed on site without incident.
