The Department of Defense announced today recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for fiscal 2012, through June.
- Recruiting. All four active services met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal 2012, through June.
- Army -- 42,538 accessions, with a goal of 42,250; 101 percent
- Navy -- 24,854 accessions, with a goal of 24,848; 100 percent
- Marine Corps -- 18,391 accessions, with a goal of 18,346; 100 percent
- Air Force -- 21,332 accessions, with a goal of 21,332; 100 percent
- Retention. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force all exhibited strong retention through the ninth month of fiscal 2012.
- Recruiting. All six reserve components met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal 2012, through June.
- Army National Guard -- 36,508 accessions, with a goal of 35,876; 102 percent
- Army Reserve -- 19,918 accessions, with a goal of 19,736; 101 percent
- Navy Reserve -- 5,841 accessions, with a goal of 5,841; 100 percent
- Marine Corps Reserve -- 6,927 accessions, with a goal of 6,649; 104 percent
- Air National Guard -- 6,453 accessions, with a goal of 6,439; 100 percent
- Air Force Reserve -- 6,458 accessions, with a goal of 6,458; 100 percent
