BAGRAM, Afghanistan (Sep. 2, 2012) – Insurgents killed 18 civilians and injured an additional 31 in eastern Afghanistan from Aug. 27 to Sep. 1.
Among those killed, according to Musa Khan Akbarzada, Ghazni provincial governor, was Ghazni provincial council chief Qazi Sahib Shah and his cousin. Akbarzada condemned the inhuman act of insurgents with the strongest terms and offered his condolences to the families of the victims.
Despite the efforts of the enemies of the Government of Afghanistan, ISAF forces in eastern Afghanistan remain committed to partnering with their Afghan National Security Forces counterparts to secure a stable and prosperous future for the Afghan people.
"In a tragic act, armed insurgents martyred a public servant,’ Akbarzada said. “This again shows that insurgents are truly enemies of peace and the people of Afghanistan; their acts of killing people are totally against Islamic values.”
