BAGRAM, Afghanistan (March 1, 2013) - Insurgents killed 7 civilians and wounded 24 others in eastern Afghanistan during the month of February.
Of the 15 insurgent attacks that caused death or injury, the two deadliest incidents occurred in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces. In Kunar, an improvised explosive device detonated underneath a vehicle in the Dangam district killing two civilians; in Nangarhar, an IED detonated at the Marco bazaar in Bati Kot district killing one civilian and injuring six others.
Nangarhar Provincial Governor Gul Aqa Shirzai condemned the act of the "enemies of Islam" and the people of Afghanistan with the strongest terms.
