KABUL, Afghanistan (May 9, 2013) – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Haqqani attack facilitator and one other insurgent during an operation in Pul-e ‘Alam district, Logar province, today.
The facilitator is responsible for procuring and distributing weapons, improvised explosive device components and other military equipment to insurgents in Pul-e Alam district. He also coordinates logistics for insurgent training in the area. At the time of his arrest, he was actively planning a high-profile attack involving vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and suicide bombers.
The security force also seized a pistol, two magazines, ammunition and IED-making material as a result of the operation.

Commandos assigned to the 1st Afghan National Army Special Operations Kandak, advised by Coalition Forces, killed three insurgents and detained four others during an operation in Pira Kheyl village, Khogyani district, Nangarhar province, today. The purpose of this operation was to degrade insurgent activity in the area.
