KABUL, Afghanistan (June 13, 2013) – An Afghan and coalition security force killed five extremists during an operation in search of a senior Taliban leader in Archi district, Kunduz province, today.
The senior leader is responsible for constructing improvised explosive devices and suicide vests for use in extremist operations. He has also directed and coordinated attacks in Archi district resulting in the deaths of numerous Afghan National Security Force personnel.
During the operation, a group of extremists opened fire on the security force. The security force returned fire, killing five.
The security force also seized one rocket-propelled grenade launcher, three RPGs, four machine guns and ammunition as a result of the operation.

While establishing a new Afghan Local Police checkpoint in Pay e Maluk village, Afghan Local Police and Afghan Uniformed Police, advised by Coalition forces, found and destroyed five IEDs in Panjwai district, Kandahar province, Wednesday. The combined forces neutralized the explosives after ensuring the safety of nearby Afghan civilians. No Afghan forces or civilians were injured during this operation.

Afghan Commandos detained three enemies of Afghanistan in Chaparhar district, Nangarhar province, Wednesday. The Commandos were conducting a clearance operation in the Kandi Bagh village to deny a safe haven to extremists. The three detainees are currently in custody of the National Directorate of Security.
BAGRAM, Afghanistan (June 13, 2013) - Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces killed one enemy combatant, detained two enemy combatants and found and safely cleared 13 improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, June 12.
Ghazni Province
Afghan National Security Forces killed one enemy of Afghanistan and detained one enemy combatant during operations in the Deh Yak District. The suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.
Afghan National Security and Coaltion Forces detained one enemy combatant found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Gelan District. The suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.
