BAGRAM, Afghanistan (June 19, 2013) - Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces killed 11 enemies of Afghanistan, detained four suspected enemies of Afghanistan and found and safely cleared four improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan
throughout the past 24 hours, June 18.
Khowst Province
Afghan National Security Forces found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Jaji Maiden District.
Afghan National Security Forces detained four suspected enemies of Afghanistan during operations in the Moosa Khel District. The suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.
Paktika Province
Coalition Forces killed seven enemies of Afghanistan during operations in the Sar Hawza District.
Afghan National Security Forces found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Sharan District.
Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces killed two enemies of Afghanistan during operations in the Urgun District.
Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Zarghoon Shar District.
Paktya Province
Afghan National Security Forces found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Zardan District.
Wardak Province

KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban leader and one other extremist during an operation in Kandahar City, Kandahar province, today.
The leader is responsible for improvised explosive device, direct fire, and indirect fire attacks on Afghan and coalition forces. He also facilitates the movement of weapons in Kandahar City and Shah Wali Kot district, in addition to managing weapons caches for use in Taliban operations.
The security force also seized one AK-47 and one magazine as a result of the operation.
South
An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban facilitator and six other extremists during an operation in Kandahar City, Kandahar province, today. The facilitator is responsible for procuring improvised explosive devices, weapons and ammunition and distributing it to insurgent groups for use in attacks targeting Afghan and coalition forces. He also manages supply routes into multiple
districts in Kandahar province.
An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban leader and five other extremists during an operation in Marjeh district, Helmand province, today. The leader exercises tactical command
and control over extremist groups responsible for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in Marjeh district. He also serves as a financier for local Taliban cells, coordinates the establishment of ammunition caches, and facilitates the movement and emplacement of improvised explosive devices. The security force also seized one shotgun as a result of the operation.
An Afghan and coalition security force arrested five extremists during an operation in search of a separate Taliban leader in Marjeh district, Helmand province, today. The leader coordinates, directs and executes attacks in Marjeh district against Afghan and coalition forces. He also passes strategic guidance from senior Taliban leadership down to low-level fighters and facilitates the movement of improvised explosive devices and other military equipment for local extremist networks. The security force also seized one AK-47, four magazines, and ammunition as a result of the operation.
Afghan National Army Special Forces of the 3rd Special Operations Kandak detained five enemies of Afghanistan in Maiwand district, Kandahar province, yesterday. The ANASF planned and executed the unilateral cordon and search operation to deny the enemy a safe haven in Chesmeth village. The detainees are currently in the custody of the National Directorate of Security.
West
Afghan National Army Special Forces killed two enemies of Afghanistan in Shindand district, Herat
province, yesterday. The extremists attacked with small arms fire while Afghan forces were conducting a presence patrol in the vicinity of the Bolbakai Afghan Local Police checkpoint. The ANASF returned fire with organic weapons, killing two of the attackers. No ANSF were injured during this engagement.
