RC-East operational update | June 22
BAGRAM, Afghanistan (June 22, 2013) - Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces killed 14 enemies of Afghanistan, detained three suspected enemies of Afghanistan, discovered one weapons cache and found and safely cleared four improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, June 21.
Ghazni Province
Coalition Forces found and safely cleared three IEDs during operations in the Ghazni District.
Khowst Province
Coalition Forces discovered one weapons cache containing 75 hand grenades, five mines, 300 rounds of small-caliber ammunition, one explosive vest, one police uniform, 65 pounds of homemade explosives and various IED making materiel during operations in the Khowst District.
Paktika Province
Coalition Forces killed one enemy of Afghanistan during operations in the Bermal District.
Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces killed eight enemies of Afghanistan and detained three suspected enemies of Afghanistan during operations in the Gayan District. The suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.
Parwan Province
Afghan National Security and Coalition Forces killed two enemies of Afghanistan and found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Bagram District.
Wardak Province
Coalition Forces killed three enemies of Afghanistan during operations in the Sayed Abad District.

KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested two extremists during an operation in search of a Haqqani facilitator in Pul-e ‘Alam district, Wardak province, June 22.
The facilitator oversees the transportation and distribution of weapons, ammunition and other
military supplies to extremist groups operating in Pul-e ‘Alam district. He has also participated in multiple attacks targeting Afghan and coalition forces.
South
Afghan and coalition forces disrupted an extremist command and control point during an operation in the Sangin district, June 20. The operation’s objective was to disrupt extremist resupply and reinforcement routes in the area. The forces seized a significant amount of lethal material to include: 33 improvised explosive device pressure plates, 23 liters of homemade explosives, and 10 battery packs.
East
An Afghan and coalition security force wounded one extremist during an operation in search of a Haqqani leader in Gardez district, Paktiya province, June 21. The leader and his subordinates are responsible for numerous attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in multiple provinces across Afghanistan. He also oversees improvised explosive device operations and facilitates the acquisition and distribution of weapons for use in Haqqani activities.
Afghan and Coalition Forces arrested extremist leader Mulla Abdulla Gark and three other enemies of Afghanistan in the Deh Yak district, Ghazni province, June 21. Gark was a high-level operational commander and supervised the activities of several extremist groups responsible for improvised explosive device operations and the acquisition and distribution of weapons against Afghan and coalition forces.
