Humans seem to increasingly attempt to fight the realities of nature, which is counterproductive to their own aims. In a twist of irony, that which was disdained 30 years ago is priced at a premium today. Conservation of Natural Resources, long a standard of hunters and farmers has been twisted into an anti-farming and anti-hunter mantra of Environmentalism.
While Al Gore-toon and his rich friends get richer selling carbon credits and books without basis in facts, Liberty loving Citizens find refuge away from the cities, in concert with Nature, with the carbon spewing jets of the Enviornmentalists flying overhead. Strangely, the same uppity yuppies that demand we decrease our "carbon footprint," rule out many measures in home owner association neighborhoods or municipal governments to do so.
Here, I'll explore the observations I've made in life, from the animal nature of human behavior, to the lost knowledge of our ancestors who cooled homes without air conditioning and helped heat it without the utility companies. I'll rail against "political correct" norms that attempt to prevent normal human behavior, as an "evolution" that cannot and will not have the anticipated or claimed results. And I'll report on the nature of the human-canine relationship as well as explore the cost effective means of supplementing food sources with that from our own lands.
Some of the ideas here can be replicated on the smallest of city lots, while others can only be accomplished living off the land, in the forests. Some will involve living in proximity of humans, while others will involve getting as far from the uncivlized cities as possible.
As civilization becomes ever more uncivilized, I am not claiming that I've learned great new techniques to lower costs and increase self-reliance, but trying to re-discover what was common sense and common knowledge only a few decades ago and supplement that with new knowledge and technology. There is an efficiency in simplicity, and great success in basic human kindness and courtesy.
